Confused by all the different UX job titles out there.
« on: December 11, 2025, 01:01:53 AM »
Seriously, what's with the endless job titles in UX these days? One company hires a "Product Designer" to do everything, another has separate "UX Designer," "Interaction Designer," and "UI Designer" roles. Then there are "UX Architects" and "Content Strategists." Is there any real agreement on what these titles mean, or is it all just company-specific branding? I'm trying to understand the landscape of common UX roles and titles.

You've hit on a universal pain point in the industry. The title inflation is real, but underneath it, there are consistent core specializations that map to different parts of the problem-solving process. What helped me cut through the noise was a resource that doesn't just list titles but defines the actual responsibilities, required skills, and how the pieces fit together on a mature team. For a really clear breakdown that separates the hype from the substance, check out this guide to UX roles and titles.
