Following the theme of Your Job, Your Future, the Bundaberg Jobs Fair, is set to help the region get connected.

Hosted by the Bundaberg Regional Committee Jobs Bundaberg on Tuesday 10 October at the Bundaberg Recreational Precinct, project officer Tim Sayre said the event was a new concept for Bundaberg, but one that had been successful on the Fraser Coast for the last two years.

“We are taking on board all the learning, tips and tricks from their event to make ours as successful an event as possible,” Mr Sayre said.

“This event has been months in the planning, not just for the Jobs Bundaberg team, but the entire Bundaberg Regional Jobs Committee and those organisations that have been part of our steering committee, such as Bundaberg Regional Council, Link and Launch, the Workforce Australia Local Jobs team and Bundaberg Fruit and Vegetable Growers.

“All these groups and their combined networks have allowed us to tap into a wide array of businesses and industry and ensure this event can be as successful as possible.”

The Bundaberg Jobs Fair caters for all job seekers, not just school graduates.

This could include those who are looking to change careers or maybe just want to come back to the workforce after a try at semi-retirement.

There will even be experts on hand to help provide the right information to help make the job search as simple and effective as possible and can include advice on resume or cover letter writing.

“The event is about connecting job seekers with employers, as part of the State Governments Good People Good Jobs strategy, and we are committed to supporting our local workforce and helping them remove barriers so that they can access job opportunities.

“A number of local businesses have vacant positions and are looking for staff, they just aren’t having much luck.

“This event brings everybody together, in one place, and hopefully increase people’s chances of finding good people and good jobs, right here in our local area.

“If you’re looking for your first job, your next job or a change of career, it will be at the Bundy Jobs Fair.

“Maybe you’re looking for an apprentice or someone that is able to help you take your business to the next level – you can find them at the Bundy Jobs Fair.”

Mr Sayre highlighted that the support for the Bundaberg Jobs Fair from business and industry has been overwhelming.

“It’s exciting that so many businesses are willing to take time out of their schedules to be part of another jobs expo.

“The Jobs Fair is a great opportunity to meet businesses to meet potential workers and for job seekers to find out what’s out there.

“This event is also about setting our region’s students and job seekers up for success.

“We want to give people their best chance of finding work which is why we’ve ensured there is a range of exhibitors who can help people navigate the training, funding, wellbeing support and job readiness programs that are out there.”

Bundaberg Regional Jobs Committee chair Bree Watson said Job Fairs served as a crucial platform to bridge the gap between employers and potential employees and regions like Bundaberg have diverse job markets due to the multifaceted industries that contribute to our local economy.

“These expos not only support employment matching but also extend into career development and skill enhancement, providing the opportunity for attendees to explore career paths, learn about industry trends and consider careers they may not have previously navigated,” Ms Watson said.

“By fostering local employment, jobs expos help retain talent within the region which is vital for our sustained growth and development.

“More local jobs means a more stable and resilient community.”
