Virginia Business Higher Education Council President Kirk Cox will facilitate a discussion at the Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center among a panel of regional business and educational leaders about internships and work-based learning.
ABINGDON, Va. — The Virginia Business Higher Education Council (VBHEC) is bringing together regional business, education, and economic development stakeholders Friday to discuss internships and work-based learning. The event is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. at the Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center, according to a written statement.
VBHEC President Kirk Cox, former speaker of the Virginia House of Delegates, will facilitate the discussion among a panel of regional business and educational leaders. Confirmed organizations that are participating include UVA Wise, Emory & Henry College, Mountain Empire Community College, Southwest Virginia Workforce Development Board, Food City, and the Bristol Chamber of Commerce.
The roundtable is the second in a series of events to raise awareness and promote additional funding and support for internships and talent pathways for Virginia students in the years ahead, according to the statement. VBHEC is committed to educating the public about higher education’s role in Virginia’s economy, and it strives to secure the support needed for the Commonwealth’s colleges, universities and community colleges to rank among the nation’s best.
